After a wildly successful movie career, Elvis returned to the stage for live musical performances in Las Vegas in 1969. Elvis’ appeal had not waned and following the success of his From Elvis in Memphis studio album released in 1969, RCA released Elvis’ first official live album and his first official double album on October 14, 1969. The two-disc set, From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis consisted of live recordings from August 24-26, 1969 at the International Hotel in Vegas and new studio material from his recordings at American Sound Studio in Memphis in January and February earlier that year. The double album reached number 12 on the Billboard charts and was certified Gold by the RIAA on December 12, 1969. Offered is the original white linen matte Gold record award issued by RIAA. This framed award displays a plaque, next to a small image of the album cover and mounted beneath the gold record, that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the RCA RECORDS long-playing record album ‘FROM MEMPHIS TO VEGAS / FROM VEGAS TO MEMPHIS,’” all set against a white linen matte background. The reverse bears the framing label from New York Frame & Picture Co. on 29 John Street in New York. This album signaled a new beginning for Elvis as it ushered in a new decade when Elvis would return to the stage to reaffirm his position as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The framed award measures 21 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches (54.61 x 44.45 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The award presents with several minor scuffs and scratches to the frame, with some minor loss of finish. Excellent to Mint condition.
