Shot on location in Hawaii, Girls! Girls! Girls! is a musical comedy in which Elvis plays Ross Carpenter, a sailor and Hawaiian fishing guide who is caught in a love triangle. Released in November 1962 by Paramount Pictures, the film was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Musical, and Elvis received the second place Laurel Award for Best Male Performance in a Musical. The soundtrack to the film was released in November 1962 to accompany the movie. Elvis recorded the soundtrack earlier that year in March at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, and the album reached number three on the Billboard charts. The soundtrack was certified gold by RIAA in August 1963. Offered is the original white linen matte gold record award issued by RIAA. This framed award displays a plaque, next to a small image of the album cover and mounted beneath the gold record, that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the RCA VICTOR RECORDS long-playing record album ‘GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!,’” all set against a white linen matte background. During this period in Elvis’ career not only was his Hollywood star shining bright, but his soundtrack albums were outselling his regular studio albums. The framed award measures 21 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches (54.61 x 44.45 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The award presents with some scratches and wear to the wooden frame, but the award area is free of any major defects. Excellent to Mint condition.
