Karate was an important part of Elvis Presley’s life in the early ’70s and provided him with spiritual contentment. He embraced it with open arms by practicing its skills and teachings in all aspects of his life. An important role model in the art for Elvis was Ed Parker, who was not only Elvis’ karate instructor, but his bodyguard and friend as well. Elvis and Ed knew each other for nearly 20 years so it was no surprise that Ed’s wife Leilani was also close with the inner circle. It is well known that Elvis bestowed his family and friends with gifts and treasures throughout the years and both Ed and Leilani were often recipients of his generosity.

Over the years, Leilani and Ed Parker shared many great times with Elvis, and as often was the case, when Elvis would give a gift to Ed, he would follow with an equally extravagant treasure for Leilani. A Cadillac for Ed was followed by a full-length mink coat for Leilani, and so on! The offered ring for Leilani followed closely on the heels of a similar, yet more masculine-styled gold and diamond ring that was given to Ed Parker by Elvis in 1974. The ring, size 8 3/4, comes with a letter, dated August 15, 2015, from the daughter of Ed and Leilani Parker that states in part:

My father Edmund K. Parker Sr. was a very close friend, bodyguard & karate instructor for Elvis Presley for many years. Elvis was extremely kind and giving to our family. My parents often shared stories about, [sic] the many great times they enjoyed with Elvis over the years. My mother would tell of special times, such as, when they were in Las Vegas to attend some of his performances, or when they were in Hawaii and Elvis wanted to attend a karate tournament, and when they visited Elvis’ home in Beverly Hills, California. My parents are of Hawaiian lineage and were always awed by his generosity in giving and my parents often told him that he truly had the “Aloha Spirit”. Elvis really loved hearing it from the both of them and accepted the compliment graciously. Elvis gave my father a beautiful ring with diamonds as a birthday gift in March 1974. Elvis, a thoughtful thinker, then felt concerned that he hadn’t given a gift to my mother. My mother Leilani was often given elaborate gifts as well. I believe Elvis gave her this ring around the same time. The ring as photographed was gifted to my mother. It comprises of 21 clustered diamonds, measuring approximately 3.0 to 4.0mm and weighing approximately 4.0 carats, the ring has a total weight of approximately 15 grams. This of all of the rings and gifts given to our mother by Elvis was her favorite and she cherished this ring.

There is some photo evidence that Elvis himself wore rings of this style. One such photo is shown here, for reference only, which shows Elvis wearing a similar ring on stage. The back of her letter contains three images of this ring. This stunning bauble is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ring presents with moderate wear. Excellent condition.
