One June 4, 1956 Elvis flies to Los Angeles for his second appearance on The Milton Berle Show the following day. This appearance was a pivotal moment for the Elvis craze as female fans went wild while the adult crowd was shocked and outraged by his swiveling hips. Newspapers across the country reacted to Elvis’ “obscene performance” and from that moment on the momentum and press coverage only grew. Elvis performed in San Diego and Long Beach California the following two days. Offered is a color transparency of a young Elvis sporting a distinctive red shirt with a zig-zag pocket top design. Elvis wore this shirt while in San Diego on June 6, 1956 in his hotel, likely dating this image to that time period. This transparency captures Elvis looking directly at the viewer with a sultry bad-boy gaze, slightly parted lips and a wisp of hair falling onto his forehead: exactly the type of guy the papers were warning of and who was every girl’s dream. The color transparency, with “Graphic House” in the margin, measures 4 by 3 1/4 inches (10.16 x 8.25 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The negative exhibits minor surface soiling along the side which does not impact the incredibly visual image. Overall excellent condition.
