Elvis Presley’s 31st and final dramatic film, Change of Habit, was a story in which three Catholic nuns are sent to work in an inner-city clinic before taking their final vows. Elvis plays the role of Dr. John Carpenter, who falls for one of the nuns, played by Mary Tyler Moore. In this 1969 movie, Robert De Anda plays an uncredited cast member with a role as “Teammate” in the film. Offered is an autographed original script page acquired by Robert De Anda that has been signed by the two main co-stars, Elvis Presley and Mary Tyler Moore. The blue page from the script contains the final screenplay number, 02032, in the upper left corner and the page number “79” in the upper right corner. The page has been signed on the back in the lower left quadrant by “Elvis Presley” and “Mary Tyler Moore” whose signature faces upside down. This incredible autographed script page comes with a black-and-white agency photo of Robert M. de Anda that is inscribed on the back, “To Lydia The biggest BRAT & cry baby in the whole world (and it’s all my fault) Love Robert” and dated “2-11-69.” Also included with the script page and photo is a color copy of a letter, dated 1/29/2005, from Lydia Silvas Wessel that states in part:

When I was a teenager (in the late 1960’s) my boyfriend Robert de Anda worked in movies. He got small parts. Sometimes just a walk-on, sometimes even a small speaking part. In the Elvis Presley movie “Change of Habit” he played a teammate in the scene where they play a game of touch football. He said Elvis was very kind and the people in the football scene all stood around and joked while they waited to shoot the scene. Robert liked to do imitations of Elvis speaking and singing. He did a pretty good impression, and Elvis loved it - in fact Elvis asked him to do it for the rest of the cast many times. During the making of this movie, he got Elvis Presley and the costar, Mary Tyler Moore, to autograph the back side of a page from the movie script. A description of this document is as follows: The Elvis Presley autograph is in cursive writing in ink on the lower left side of the back of the script page. Below this autograph is the Mary Tyler Moore autograph, which is oriented 180 degrees from that of the Elvis Presley autograph. It is also in cursive writing in ink. The front side of the script bears the number 79 in the top right corner and is apparently the page number. The letters “ak” followed by “#02032” appear at the top left. Immediately below, Shot 188 is described as “WIDE SHOT – GAME” and the beginning reads as follows: The team comes out of the huddle, the defensive team is set. Michele, playing safety, moves into position. Michelle (yells) Red dog that passer. / The script describes the rest of the shot, as well as several subsequent shots. The lower left corner of the page is missing, probably torn off when Robert tore the page from his script book.

The script page also includes a modern paper copy of a photo of Elvis and Mary Tyler Moore. This incredible collection of ephemera directly from a cast member on the set of Change of Habit has impeccable provenance. The script measures approximately 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm), the black-and-white agency photo measures 8 by 10 inches (20.32 x 25.4 cm) and the grouping is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The script page exhibits typical signs of wear from use including minor creasing overall, a large portion of the lower left is missing and shapes of square discoloration surrounding the signatures on the back is from areas of previous folding. The signatures are bold, large and dark, overall in excellent, well preserved condition.
