The Commercial Appeal and the Memphis Press-Scimitar were rival papers in Memphis, Tennessee, both owned by the E.W. Scripps Company, until the Memphis Press-Scimitar closed in 1983. During the 1960s and 1970s when hometown hero Elvis Presley was a mega-entertainer and superstar, both papers regularly featured news of the celebrity. With fierce competition, each paper tried its best to win the loyalty of readers. Offered is a period poster advertising the superior coverage of Elvis Presley in The Commercial Appeal. The poster features a captivating black-and-white image of Elvis above the tag line “Everything Elvis in The CA.” The poster was most likely produced for display at newsstands, as indicated by the two holes at the top that would have allowed the poster to be hung from existing poster hardware at most locations that sold newspapers and magazines. This unusual and rare poster measures 22 by 13 inches (55.88 x 33.02 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The poster is moderately toned and has two large creases that run across horizontally, but neither of these areas has any paper loss. There are some light water stains, some edge wear and wear around the hanging holes at top, which is to be expected. Excellent condition.
