“Way Down” was recorded in October of 1976 and was released by RCA in June of 1977 with “Pledging My Love” on the B-side. The single, the last one released before Elvis’ untimely death, hit number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart but had slipped to 53 by August. The song rose in the charts again, topping18 in September and October. The recording also contains J.D. Sumner singing “Way on down” at the end of each chorus, during which he reaches a note so low, it is believed to be the lowest recorded note ever produced by a human voice. The song was certified gold by RIAA on September 12, 1977. Offered is the framed gold record sales award for “Way Down” issued by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) which displays a plaque mounted beneath the gold 45 single that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of the RCA RECORDS single record ‘WAY DOWN’,” set against a black background. The framed award measures 17 by 13 inches (43.18 x 33.02 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The award presents with some scratches and wear to the gold finish on the wooden frame, but the award area is free of any major defects. Excellent to Mint condition.
