Containing direct quotes from Marin Luther King, Jr., “If I Can Dream” was written by Walter Earl Brown and recorded by Elvis in June 1968 only two months after Dr. King’s assassination. Offered is a framed Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Award for “If I Can Dream” with a plaque that states “Presented to RCA RECORDS to commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the RCA RECORDS single record ‘If I Can Dream’.” Released in 1968, “If I Can Dream” reached number 12 on the Billboard charts with more than one million in sales. The single, with “Edge of Reality” on side B, was certified gold by RIAA on March 27, 1992. This framed display features a gold-colored 45 single with orange label above a gold-colored plaque, both mounted against a black background. This special song was the finale of Elvis’ ’68 Comeback Special.The framed award measures 17 by 13 inches (43.18 x 33.02 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The award has moderate to heavy distress to the frame, with scuffing and scratches. Excellent condition.
