This greatest hits album was composed of hit singles from 1960, 1961 and 1962 and included the songs “I Gotta Know,” “It’s Now or Never” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” among the twelve released on the album. The album, third in the five-volume collection, was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on November 1, 1966 and platinum on March 27, 1992. Offered is the original white linen matte gold record award issued by RIAA. This framed award displays a plaque, next to a small image of the album cover and mounted beneath the gold record, that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the RCA VICTOR RECORDS long-playing record album ‘ELVIS’ GOLDEN RECORDS, VOL. 3,’” all set against a white linen matte background. This album was an opportunity to bolster Elvis’ soundtrack and studio record sales with a compilation album of hit singles during this period and the strategy was successful—the album reached number three on the Billboard charts. The framed award measures 21 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches (54.61 x 44.45 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The award presents with some scratches and wear to the wooden frame, but the award area is free of any major defects. Excellent to Mint condition.
