In his 1960 role as Pacer Burton in the movie Flaming Star, Elvis stars opposite Barbara Eden in his critically acclaimed best acting performance. After his film G.I. Blues, Elvis desired to be viewed as a serious actor so he reduced the number of songs in the film from the already small number of four to only two. Released in December of 1960 by 20th Century Fox, just a month after the release of G.I. Blues, Flaming Star was not received with the success at the box office that G.I. Blues enjoyed. Flaming Star is the story of a rancher (Pacer Burton) whose mother is Kiowa and father is Texan, caught in a battle between two cultures and his loyalty to each. Offered is an oversized pair of studio issued black-and-white photos of Elvis from Flaming Star. These iconic images capture Elvis living the part of Pacer Burton and come with an additional eleven (11) black-and-white movie stills and a pressbook. This great visual collection from one of Elvis’ more serious roles in a film is a fitting tribute to Elvis’ acting skills. The oversized photos measure 10 by 13 inches (25.4 x 33.02 cm), the smaller photos measure 8 by 10 inches (20.32 x 25.4 cm) and the pressbook measures 16 1/2 by 13 inches (41.91 x 33.02 cm). The group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The oversized photos present with only a bit of minor toning on the reverse. The standard 8x10s present with little distress, and the pressbook exhibits only minor wear to the edges. NM condition overall.
