With an all-star cast featuring Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell, and a 62 million dollar budget, the 2001 Warner Brothers film 3,000 Miles to Graceland follows the action of the main characters who rob a Las Vegas casino dressed as Elvis during an Elvis tribute artist convention. The successful heist and twisting plot end with the main character, played by Kurt Russell, aboard a boat named “Graceland” regaling his co-horts with a story about to whom Elvis left his inheritance, insinuating that the boat belonged to his father, the king of rock ’n roll. While the movie was panned by critics, the underlying Elvis theme makes for a visual extravaganza. Offered is a rhinestone-studded jumpsuit and cape worn by Kevin Costner in the movie. This black jumpsuit, with a gold-lined cape and rainbow rhinestones creating a feast for the eyes, was worn by the Academy Award winning actor, who was once voted the sexiest man alive. This magnificent jumpsuit contains the original “B & K Enterprises / Costume Design & Embroideries” collar tag and comes with a letter from B & K Enterprises that states in part, “This letter will serve to verify B & K Enterprises Costume Company fabricated and supplied the custom-made Elvis-style jumpsuit worn by Kevin Costner in the movie ‘3,000 Miles to Graceland.’” The letter continues, “Original designers Bill Belew and Gene Doucette also provided B & K Enterprises with exclusive permission and documented consent for the use of their retained intellectual property rights for the artwork on these performance costumes. There are a number of factors that will assist in verification that this is one of the custom-made Elvis-style jumpsuits made by our company for Kevin Costner to wear in the 2001 movie ‘3,000 Miles to Graceland.’…when Head Costume Designer, Mary McLoed, ordered 29 costumes for the main characters of ‘3,000 Miles to Graceland’ and their stunt doubles, she requested specific custom features for the ‘King of Spades’ jumpsuit to be worn by Kevin Costner.” The letter goes on to describe the specific attributes of this significant jumpsuit. As further provenance, also included is an original letter from Rick Mars that states, “Demian Lichtenstein was the Director, Co-Writer and Co-Producer of the motion picture ‘3,000 Miles to Graceland’ released in 2001. A few years later, I was Executive Producer on the motion picture ‘Discover the Gift’ which was also Directed, Produced and Co-Written by Demian Lichtenstein. As such, over a two-year period, I spent a great deal of time in post-production at his Equilibrium Entertainment Television/Movie Studio in Los Angeles. On display in the lobby of Equilibrium Entertainment, was a large framed theater poster for the movie ‘3,000 Miles to Graceland’ - showing lead actor Kevin Costner wearing a jeweled black Elvis-type jumpsuit - and next to it was a mannequin wearing the same black Elvis jumpsuit pictured on the movie poster. I was told by Demian Lichtenstein, on numerous occasions, that this was the actual outfit worn by Kevin Costner for the filming of ‘3,000 Miles to Graceland.’ At the conclusion of post-production for ‘Discover the Gift,’ and in the process of settling up our production finances, I was due some return funds…I accepted and received the aforementioned black Elvis jumpsuit worn by Kevin Costner as part of my settlement of movie production.” This studded jumpsuit, worn in the the film 3,000 Miles to Graceland by Kevin Costner while paying tribute to the ultimate entertainer, Elvis Presley, is a high-quality, incredible relic that merges the iconic legend with a fanciful story and Hollywood mega-star. The inseam of this heavily-weighted jumpsuit measures 32 1/2 inches and the cape measures 68 inches from tip to tip and 32 inches from top to bottom. The jumpsuit and cape are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
