Presented are three 12 inch, single-sided acetates containing tracks from Elvis Presley's 1968 NBC television special, “Singer Presents...Elvis,” commonly known as his “'68 Comeback Special.” The special originally aired on December 3, 1968, with a running time of one hour. With time for commercials, the show ran for 47-48 minutes in length. This trio of acetates contains a combination of complete tracks, tracks not originally aired on the special, dubbed down “background” versions with no vocals, and fully comped, as-aired musical numbers from the television special, though the tracks are not in the final, as-aired order. The production numbers involved elaborate sets and medley's of songs as the “Guitar Man” traveled through the loosely constructed “plot” of the show, and the presented acetates have complete versions of these sections of the show. ACETATE #1: Program Section:GUITAR MAN-Part 1: “Nothingville/Guitar Man” (Part 1); “Let Yourself Go” (Part 1) (Elvis and Darlene Love-cut from original broadcast); “Flicker Routine/Let Yourself Go” (Part 2); “Guitar Man” (Part 2-up tempo); “Calliope Music and Carnival Barker;” “Big Boss Man.” GUITAR MAN-Part 2: “It Hurts Me” (Part 1); “Guitar Man” (instrumental-slower); “It Hurts Me” (Part 2); “Guitar Man” (Part 3); “Little Egypt;” “Trouble;” “Guitar Man” (Part 4). ACETATE #2: ”Trouble” (before song starts Elvis says “Trying to fake it, baby, and I can't do it.” and then a 1-6 count-in by engineer or other musician.); “Guitar Man;” GOSPEL SECTION 1: “Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child;” “Where Could I Go But To The Lord?;” “Yes, Yes, Yes;” GOSPEL SECTION 2: “Up Above My Head;” “I Found That Light;” “Saved.” ACETATE #3: “If I Can Dream;” “If I Can Dream” (instrumental version); “Memories;” “Let Yourself Go” (closing instrumental version); “The Scratch (guitar instrumental); “A Little Less Conversation” (instrumental). The discs measure 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

Condition: Disc #1 VG+ with just a few scuffs and very small scratches. Disc #2: VG with one larger scratch (does not affect playback)-otherwise very clean. Disc #3: VG with minor to moderate scuffing and scratches. All three play exceptionally well.
