The Elvis Presley Enterprises branding was creating in 1956 and produced a bevy of Elvis-related merchandise to quench the demand of fans for products with Elvis’ likeness. Clothing, jewelry, toys and utility items were manufactured with Elvis’ image and signature. It was in 1958 after Elvis was inducted into the Army that EPE issued a version of his “dog tags” for fans as a method of sharing his Army service experience. Offered is an Elvis dog tag necklace in its original store packaging. The metal necklace is affixed to a pink and white card that is housed in a windowed folder with the $1.00 price plus tax printed on the front and the description “Dog Tag / Own Serial Number and Blood Type.” The pendant portion mimics a real version of the dog tag with “Presley, Elvis / 53310761 / Type O” engraved above Elvis’s signature and image. The dog tag necklace, popular among Elvis fans, was typically eagerly opened and worn, making this original packaged example a rare survivor. The cardboard packaging measures 10 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches (26.67 x 13.97 cm) and this scarce collectible is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

While the hanging package and cello packaging are intact, they are separated from each other. The exterior cardboard is creased and soiled and the tag is slightly tarnished, but overall in very good condition.
