Elvis returned to Vegas in 1969, with his show opening at the International Hotel on July 31 to rave reviews and packed houses. So successful was his opening night show that the Colonel immediately negotiated a more favorable contract (on a tablecloth) with Alex Shoofey, president of the International, that very evening. The following year, Elvis’ 1970 Summer Festival was documented in the MGM film Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, which chronicled his return to live performances. This exact type of banner is depicted in the documentary film taped during the Summer Festival that began on August 10, 1970. These satin banners were used exclusively for Elvis’ Summer Festival in 1970 and are documented in photos hanging together as bunting. The satin banners in this style were hung in a combination of colors and missives including gold, red, rust, and orange-colored, faded satin that state in white lettering “Elvis Summer Festival / International Hotel,” “Elvis Summer Festival / MGM Studios” and “Elvis Big 50 / RCA Records.” Often single banners can be found, but a bunting of banners still together is incredibly rare as most were divided to become souvenirs. Offered are twelve (12) original banners still together on their original ribbon as bunting from the summer of 1970 when Elvis began his successful Summer Festivals at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. An incredibly rare survivor! The banners, each measuring 27 by 11 inches (68.58 x 27.94 cm) with the bunting measuring 10 feet (304.8 cm) in length, are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The banners are in excellent condition overall with typical edge wear and fading from age. The cream-colored ribbon is discolored from age and handling.
