During the 1970s concert tours, Elvis utilized a variety of styles, types and colors of badges to be able to easily distinguish building personnel and tour members with backstage and other levels of access from the throngs of fans and audience members. The style, color and size of these badges also varied for different concerts and different venues to ensure security. Badges included fabric stick-on types, ribbons, metal ID cards and clip-on buttons. These badges, buttons, and ribbons allowed for control of movement and access to the backstage of concerts, which was of paramount importance. These were distributed to those with permission to move freely behind the scenes. Offered is a pair of celluloid buttons that provide an ideal example of the variety employed that include a yellow “ELVIS IN PERSON” button that is numbered 424 and a yellow celluloid button with black lettering reading “ELVIS In Concert Special Guest Artist.” These excellent examples were given to special guests or staff in order to grant them needed access to authorized areas. These exceptional celluloid buttons, each with clip backs, measure 2 1/8 inch (5.39) and 2 inches (5.08 cm) in diameter respectively and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The larger button is in excellent condition overall with only minor surface wear, including a tiny indent to the top surface, typical of age. The smaller button exhibits a minor dent only slightly visible from the back and a few tiny dots of rust on the reverse, otherwise in excellent condition overall.
