The Electro-Voice RE16 microphone is a supercardioid model specifically designed for precise professional use that contains a blast filter making it ideal for outdoor use, as it has the greatest rejection of ambient sound and excessive wind noise. The offered example emanates directly from the RCA vault and comes with a letter from Al Panasuk, son of a 1970s RCA technician, which describes his father’s role as technician for the RCA vault in New York City where all the recording gear, microphones, acetates, supplies and masters were kept. His father was responsible for documenting the movement of the equipment.  He continues in the letter to relay how RCA “discarded equipment and his father brought home a couple of microphones which he said were used by Elvis.” The microphones remained in his father’s possession until 1999 when he gave them to his son. The letter ends by stating, “This Mic recounted as an Elvis Presley used Electro-Voice RE16 Microphone, Mic Clip and Case. Is similar to the microphone used on the Aloha from Hawaii TV Special. With hand engraved RCA lettering is one of those items.” The collection includes the microphone, cord, stand and arm as well as the metal case. The microphone measures 7 3/4 inches (19.68 cm) in length, the case measures 10 1/2 by 5 by 3 1/4 inches (26.67 x 12.7 x 8.25 cm) and the stand and base measure 8 by 7 by 4 1/4 inches (20.32 x 17.78 x 10.79 cm) when assembled together. The weighted base has a label on the underside that reads, “RCA Microphone Desk Stand Type 91-D MI-4092-G.” The microphone ensemble is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ensemble of microphone equipment is in excellent, used condition overall with the metal “EV” logo tag on the box detached.
