The 1960s and ’70s saw a big boom in popularity for Native American jewelry, especially turquoise, with the advent of the hippie movement and the likes of celebrities like Cher, Jim Morrison and Elvis wearing and pushing this new style. Always at the forefront of trends and fashion, Elvis adopted and embraced this new accessorizing style with pieces of turquoise jewelry. The decade of the 70s, being the bicentennial of the United States, was a time of great pride in country and Elvis led the charge in his American Eagle jumpsuit that most recognizably wore during his Aloha From Hawaii concert satellite broadcast. This patriotic jumpsuit was not the only accessory that Elvis would sport with this theme as attested by the offered stunning example of a turquoise and coral ring designed with an eagle cradling the stones set in a silver “nest.” The large turquoise stone measures 11.5 by 8.25 mm, the coral stone measures 8 by 5 mm, and the silver ring weighs 15.9 grams. This ring, sized 13, is accompanied by an April 28, 1972, letter on TCB letterhead from Vernon Presley that states, “Dear Elizabeth, I am very honored to pass this eagle silver ring to you. Elvis wore this ring often. He owned many rings over the years. This one he gave to me to pass on to a fan. At this time we are honored to give you this silver ring. Elvis and all of us here at Graceland thank you for all the letters and art work you and your friend have shared with him and all of us.” Also included is pre-printed fan response letter, and its original mailing envelope dated May 5, 1960, with a facsimile Elvis signature, which is personalized to Elizabeth. It reads, “I received your most welcomed letter and I was most happy to hear from you. I’m sorry I haven’t written sooner but I’ve been very busy since I returned from overseas. I was glad to complete my tour in the service, and I enjoyed it very much but I’m happy it’s over and I’m back home again. I have not the words to express my sincere appreciation to you wonderful and loyal fans for keeping my records going and me in the limelight while I was away. Now that I am back I’m going to try to show my gratitude by making the records and movies I think you will enjoy. In closing, may I say thank you again for a job well done. May God bless you and yours.” A heartfelt gift to a loyal fan, this majestic ring is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ring presents with moderate wear from use. Near Mint condition.
