Fans from around the globe watched as the singing phenomenon took the stage at the Honolulu International Center on January 14, 1973, and said “Aloha” to the world. The famed concert aired via satellite in over 40 countries in Europe and Asia (airing at a later date in the US) and was the most expensive entertainment special of its time, costing approximately $2.5 million to produce. Colonel Parker called it the “first entertainment special to be broadcast live around the world,” reaching over 1 billion fans worldwide. The double album released by RCA of this celebrated concert contained 30 songs and was an immediate, massive hit, as Elvis sang every song with a passion and energy like only the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll could. Offered is a 1973 die-cut record store standee display that is almost as large as the King himself! Bedazzled in his American Eagle jumpsuit with a red lei around his neck and belting a tune into the microphone in his hand, this huge cardboard display emits all the power and energy of Elvis live in person. These displays, due to size and delicate nature of their cardboard construction combined with their purpose of display on the floor of a record store, typically did not survive intact, making this example a stunning relic. The standee depicts Elvis in full glory and the full color image is as captivating as if one were in the audience at the Honolulu International Center that famous day in January 1973. The display would have stood erect, likely near a wall of the record store, creating no need for the back to be embellished, and this one remains untouched cardboard with only a signature and date of 9-1-79 on the reverse. This wonderful life-sized depiction of Elvis measures 55 1/2 by 33 1/2 inches (140.97 x 85.09 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The standee presents with moderate staining and scuffing. The hand is still attached, but does have a tear at the junction with the body. The standee back unit is intact. Excellent condition.
