With his dashing good looks, extraordinary talents and well-loved nature, it is no surprise that Elvis remains one of the most photographed celebrities of all time. With a career that encompassed the stage, screen and turntable, Elvis was a fan favorite throughout his career, and his image graced the pages of magazines and newspapers on a regular basis. Every aspect of Elvis’ career merited national press coverage. Countless images of Elvis exist, yet some are more desirable than others and certainly those that originate directly from the collection of Marlene Dietrich’s business manager Hugh Pickett fall into that category. Offered is a collection of twenty (20) black-and-white news service photos, wire photos, production photos and contact negatives from Elvis’ films, personal life and Army service that all emanate from the Collection of Hugh Pickett. The images include:

  • Two images marked “Globe Photos” on the reverse that depict Elvis on stage and signing autographs for fans;
  • A Terry Wood image of Elvis being interviewed in his velvet shirt from the Tupelo concerts;
  • An image of Elvis review the 1956 merchandise collection with Hank Saperstein;
  • Two images of Elvis on set and one kissing a fan as the Colonel and Joe Esposito look on;
  • A studio still of Elvis with two fans on the set;
  • Elvis and Ann-Margret in Hollywood for an article entitled “Romance is in the Air”;
  • Two images of Elvis in his Army dress uniform, one with Nancy Sinatra;
  • An image of Elvis in his Army uniform at a press conference;
  • An image of Elvis during his service warming his hands over a fire;
  • An image of Elvis, Priscilla and Lisa Marie at the hospital after her birth;
  • An image of Elvis and his stepbrothers Billy, Ricky and David Stanley;
  • An image of Mrs. Devada Elliot, fiancée of Vernon Presley, holding her wedding gown;
  • Three movie promotional head shots of Elvis and their corresponding transparencies;
  • A film still of Elvis from Viva Las Vegas and the transparency; and
  • A film still negative of Elvis from Harum Scarum.

This collection is a superb representation of all aspects of Elvis’ entertaining career and personal life spanning two decades. The photos and negatives all measure 10 by 8 inches (25.4 x 20.32 cm) (with a few smaller) and the grouping is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photos present with expected wear from storage and, in some cases, newsroom use. Excellent condition with some lesser. The contact negatives present with few defects. Near Mint condition.
