Music programs were used as a form of promotion and advertising to introduce up-and-coming musicians to general audiences. They typically featured pictures of the stars along with short biographies. Offered is an early program that includes the young singing sensation, Elvis Presley. Before he became the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, his sound was initially categorized under country. The 1956 Country and Western Souvenir Program has Elvis featured on page 14 where he is described: “Already a fabulous figure in the entertainment world, young Elvis has found national fame and scores of fans via appearances on national television shows. Credited with being on of the first to bring rock n’ roll rhythms to folk music.” Other big stars of the day like Tex Ritter, Hank Snow, Minnie Pearl, Jim Reeves, Slim Whitman, Johnny Cash, Scotty Moore, Floyd Cramer, and more are included in this program. A fledgling Elvis was in good company at the very start of his career, although it was not long before he overshadowed even the most well-known country star. The cover illustration of this period program features a drawing of a country singer set against a red background. The program measures 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The program presents with moderate wear, some toning and separation at the binding, but the colors are bright and bold, and the interior pages are very clean. Excellent condition.
