From the collection of “Rockin’” Robin Rosaaen.

Suede is a type of leather created from the inner section of the skin to produce a textured surface. Since suede is more fragile than normal leather, it has always been considered a luxury and became increasingly popular in the fashion industry in the late 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. It is only fitting that Elvis would have had a custom-made suede jacket created for himself. The offered jacket is a prime example and is offered with two letters from Tim Malachosky, one of which is dated April 28, 1987, and states,

This letter will authenticate a light blue suede jacket with zipper pockets and sleeves, a “Hell Bent For Leather” label, and E. Presley appearing twice in the inside pocket, as a personal jacket belonging to Elvis Presley. Hell Bent For Leather is a Hollywood shop that custom-made various garments for Presley. I obtained this jacket from a prominent Hollywood celebrity clothing collector. I am a major dealer in movie and celebrity clothing. The jacket was not used by Elvis on stage or in movies but rather for personal wear.

In addition to the two letters from Tim Malachosky, also included are a letter from Richard Wilson dated 1988, a newspaper ad for the sale of the jacket, three photos of the jacket, an article on Robin Rosaaen, and an image of Elvis wearing a similar if not this very jacket. This stylish piece closes in the front with a tie through two grommets and shows signs of being well-worn and loved. Elvis was always at the height of fashion and often had many of his stylish clothes custom-made for him, and this jacket is a luxurious specimen. The jacket measures 28 inches (71.12 cm) in length, 17 inches (43.18 cm) from shoulder seam to shoulder seam and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The jacket is well worn with staining around the collar, a mark on the left sleeve cuff and general wear around the cuffs.
