Elvis’ fascination with religion and spirituality evolved throughout his life and while he continued to read and educate himself on the subject, his faith never wavered. Elvis had a keen fascination with world religions and continually tried to increase his knowledge of the subject. Offered is a silver ring, owned by Elvis, that features a carved portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe or the Virgin of Guadalupe on the face. Our Lady of Guadalupe plays such an important role in the Roman Catholic religion of Mexico that she has become a national symbol. She often appears cloaked with hands held together in a symbol of prayer above a cherubic angel with outstretched arms holding her robe. According to lore, the Virgin appeared to Juan Diego in December 1531 and requested that a church be built. Before the bishop would approve construction, he wanted more proof of this divine sign. Mary then appeared again to Juan Diego instructing him to gather flowers from the top of Tepeyac Hill, where Juan Diego found Castilian roses, not native, blooming. When Juan Diego took another audience with the bishop, he opened his cloak to a stream of these rare roses falling to the floor and an image of Mary imprinted inside the cloak. This important religious symbol graces the face of this beautiful silver ring, weighing 17 grams and measuring a size 8 1/2, that was owned by Elvis Presley. This unusual ring comes with a letter from Tom Salva that states, “The item listed and shown above has been in my personal Elvis Presley collection since 1988. I purchased this item, and many others, from Patsy Presley, Elvis Presley’s cousin who worked as secretary in the offices at Graceland for many years during Elvis’ career. The item was originally from a jewelry box from Elvis’ bedroom dresser. I purchased the jewelry box and all its contents from Patsy in 1988. While it didn’t contain any of Elvis’ ornate jewelry with diamonds and gold, etc., it did contain many rings, watches, money clips, cuff links, bracelets, pins and other items of this sort that were often gifted to Elvis by family, friends and even fans. Included below is a copy of the money order with which I purchased the items from Patsy Gambill (her married name at the time) as well as a color copy of the handwritten letter from Patsy, dated October 25, 1988, describing the jewelry box and what it meant to Elvis.” This Lady of Guadalupe ring is also accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ring is in good condition with evidence of wear to the face and a tiny indent on the band likely from heavy use.
