Radio played an integral part in distributing new music and artists while keeping audiences entertained and tuned in. Radio stations employed a variety of gimmicks to engage listeners, one of which is the top twenty list, and offered is a strong Elvis Presley autograph on the back of WHEY radio station’s top twenty “plays, requests and sales” card for the week of February 27, 1958 where Elvis’ hit single “Don’t” reached number 5. Elvis was in good company with Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Paul Anka and Pat Boone. WHEY was a radio station operating in Millington, Tennessee. Elvis has signed the reverse of this partial card in pencil with a strong hand. After Elvis returned from filming King Creole, he was in Memphis in March of 1958 and would have easily been able to sign this flyer for a fan during that time period. What a wonderful marriage of an Elvis autograph on an early local radio station flyer that features Elvis climbing the hit charts as he would continue to do his entire career. This early autograph on the back of a period hit list with Elvis in the top 5 is a timeless treasure. The portion of the flyer on which this signature appears measures 2 3/4 by 3 3/8 inches (6.98 x 8.57 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The paper has a small pinhole and tape residue, neither of which impede the signature. Excellent condition.
