On March 20, 1974, Elvis Presley took the stage in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee at The Midsouth Coliseum. The tapes were rolling during that show, and the result was the live album Elvis Recorded Live on Stage in Memphis, which was released on July 7, 1974. The album topped Billboard’s Country charts that year, but the real high point was that Elvis won his third Grammy Award for his performance of “How Great Thou Art.” The offered example of the LP was created specifically for radio stations, as evidenced clearly by the large white sticker on the front that reads “THIS ALBUM HAS BEEN BANDED FOR DJ USE” above the track listings. The vinyl itself is “banded,” which means there are visible demarcations between the tracks. This was done on DJ copies when the album had a continuous stream of music, such as in a live recording such as the offered LP. This way DJs could still see where to start a track even though there is crowd noise between each song. These promotional copies are by definition very scarce, and the offered example is a high-grade copy. The disc measures 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

This promo copy presents with only minor wear to the sticker on the front, but the sleeve and vinyl are nearly pristine. Near Mint condition.
