Elvis performed five times for a multitude of shows at Del Webb’s Sahara Tahoe Hotel and Casino from 1971 through 1976. The shows were beloved by fans and Elvis alike for their more intimate atmosphere. Despite the smaller-than-Las-Vegas venue, the Colonel was never shy about promoting his number one star with advertisements for shows and merchandising for sale at every concert, and the Sahara Tahoe was certainly no exception. Offered is a rarely seen early promotional poster that was sold at concerts in 1971. The mounted versions of these promotional posters were used as sales displays at the souvenir booths that Colonel Parker set up at Elvis’ concerts and it is likely that this poster is an example of such. Based on the handwritten notation on the reverse, this one was acquired “July 1971 Sahara-Tahoe / First Time to See Elvis / Yvonne Fallow & I went.” The black-and-white poster depicts Elvis in his Lace or White Ribs jumpsuit with macrame belt, first worn in November 1970 and likely around the period the photo for this poster was taken. The poster, stored flat, measures 28 by 22 inches (71.12 x 55.88 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The poster is taped to a heavy board along its edges, and possibly adhered to the board. Otherwise there are no major distresses except some fold marks that have been improved by mounting on the board. Excellent condition.
