The motion picture King Creole was Elvis’ final film before his movie career hiatus during his military service. Just before filming for King Creole began in December 1957, Elvis received his military draft notice. Paramount and Presley petitioned and were successful in receiving a 60-day deferment, so filming of King Creole took place between January and March 12, 1958 and immediately after, Elvis reported for his Army induction on March 24. The film, Elvis’ fourth, was released by Paramount in July of 1958 to acclaim from fans and critics. Two EPs were released for Elvis’ 1958 film King Creole. The first, with its heavy brass New Orleans sound, sold half a million copies and included the title song “King Creole” and “New Orleans” on side A and “As Long As I Have You” and “Lover Doll” on side B. Offered is the RCA award issued to Colonel Parker for his assistance in helping King Creole Volume 1 reach sales in excess of one million dollars. The unusually long engraving on the plaque reads “Presented to Col. Tom Parker in recognition of his contribution to the success of Elvis Presley’s Extended Play Album ‘King Creole, Volume 1’ which has exceeded more than One Million Dollars in Sales. One of the greatest achievements in the history of the Record Industry. November 1960. The RCA Victor Record Division.” Based on the bombastic tone, one could theorize that Colonel Parker himself may have had a hand in crafting the text! The silvered 45 EP is centered against a green velvet background with the plaque below. The award is framed in a silver frame that measures approximately 16 by 14 inches (40.64 x 35.56 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The award presents with few defects, with just a few scuffs and distresses in the silver frame. Near Mint condition.
