Rarely seen, this 1960 one-sheet poster differs from the original only in that it uses simply two colors to achieve its effect. Nearly identical in artwork, the various elements are shifted only slightly in position to accommodate the large new headline “WELCOME BACK Elvis Presley You’re The Greatest.” This proclamation along the top appears to be a message to Elvis himself upon his return from his honorable military service. The film’s 1960 rerelease was to celebrate Elvis’ return from his military service in March of that year. Fans had waited nearly two years since the release of King Creole to see the young star on the big screen. G.I. Blues wouldn’t hit theaters until November 1960, so the screaming millions were only too happy to go back for another viewing of Elvis’ 1957 tour de force Jailhouse Rock. An impressive and rare display piece from those heady, happy days when Elvis finally came home. The poster, which is stored folded, measures approximately 41 by 27 inches (104.14 by 68.58 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The poster presents with several large separations along the original factory folds and small areas of paper loss along these folds. Excellent condition.
