In 1960 after successfully completing his military service, Elvis returned home to anxiously awaiting fans. Fans had waited nearly two years since the release of King Creole to see the young star on the big screen. G.I. Blues wouldn’t hit theaters until November 1960, so the screaming millions were only too happy to go back for another viewing of Elvis’ 1957 tour de force Jailhouse Rock. The film was re-released in 1960 to celebrate his homecoming and to excite and satisfy audiences before Elvis’ new movie release hit the screens. Despite the craving for anything Elvis, promotion of this rerelease was still necessary to alert audiences. Part of that advertising came in the form of radio announcements for the upcoming rerelease. Offered is a 1960 red vinyl WOR Recording Division record containing four radio spot announcements for Jailhouse Rock “Elvis is Back.” The label lists the four cuts with 1 & 2 being identical 55-second commercial spots to be used with live tag and 3 & 4 being identical 15-second commercial spots. The record, marking the return of the young star, measures 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The LP presents with moderate to heavy scuffing and scratching, but it is in playable condition. VG condition.
