On July 5, 1954, Elvis, Bill Black and Scotty Moore were in the studio rehearsing. During a break, Elvis began messing around playing an up-tempo version of Arthur Crudup’s song “That’s All Right, Mama.” Scotty and Bill joined in and Sam Phillips recognized the potential hit and began recording. As they say, the rest is history. Elvis’ “That’s All Right” was released as catalog number 209 by Sun Records with “Blue Moon of Kentucky” on side B on July 19, 1954. More than 4,000 copies were sold during that first week. That well-known song was later included on the RCA Camden label in “Not for Sale” February Sampler record on side 1. The RCA Camden label was created in 1953 and became the lower budget outlet to reissue RCA recordings. The offered, unusual sampler record from February 1959 contains a RCA Victor black label on side 1 and a purple-and-blue RCA Camden label on side 2. The disc measures 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
The record presents with minor scuffing and a small number of scratches. VG condition.
