Jailhouse Rock strayed from the MGM convention of the time, as the story was not based on a successful book or theatrical play. Additionally, the film was not even listed in Variety as one of MGM’s planned releases for the year because the original story author, Nedrick Young, had been blacklisted. Despite all this, and because of its young superstar, the film was a massive success and reached #3 on the box office charts. Co-stars Judy Tyler, Mickey Shaughnessy, Dean Jones and Jennifer Holden help Elvis through Richard Thorpe’s direction of this tale of Vince Everett, a young man jailed for manslaughter who is taught to embrace the musical gift that becomes his redemption, leads to great success and ultimately almost becomes his downfall. The movie catches Elvis in his prime, in full ascension to super-stardom as both actor and musical performer, and the offered US one-sheet embodies that spirit. No serious collection of Elvis movie artifacts is complete without an example of the most iconic poster from his most iconic film, and this poster fits the bill. The poster measures 41 by 27 inches (104.14 x 68.58 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The poster presents with bright, bold colors, but does have some defects in the way of about a dozen pinholes and some very small edge tears and staining. Excellent condition, technically, but presents much better.
