Every young girl in the 1950s swooned after Elvis with wishes that he could be her own. Elvis Presley Enterprises answered that call by creating an Elvis Presley doll as part of its merchandising efforts. Offered is an Elvis Presley doll that is not only incredibly rare, but this example is in unbelievably excellent condition with the complete outfit still intact including the orange “Elvis Presley” tag remaining on the doll’s black belt. The Elvis doll sports his original plaid shirt, black belt, blue pants, and blue suede shoes and the amazing condition of the doll and shipping box cannot be overstated, since the soft “magic skin” of the doll was made from a material which tended to deteriorate over time. Any young girl in the ‘50s who had owned this doll would have likely shown it plenty of love and affection, and over the years many were lost to time and use, further contributing to the rarity of this stunning example. The doll head is marked at the base of the neck with “Elvis Presley Enterprises © 1957” and is one of the few items that bore the 1957 copyright date. The doll comes with its original mailing box addressed to Patty Thomas, Rt. 4, Rector, Arkansas and period postmark from Topeka, Kansas with the date of June 2, 1957. The side of the box retains the original printing, “Elvis Presley Doll / Elvis Presley Enterprises / Copyright 1957 / All Rights Reserved / Sole Distributors / Acme Merchandise Co. Inc. New York, N.Y.” Obviously, the original owner cherished this Elvis Presley doll with respect reserved for a king, thereby leaving this treasured time capsule in like-new condition more than 50 years later. The original advertising for the Elvis touted, “Only doll of its kind approved by Elvis Presley. The thrill of your lifetime! Now you can have ‘Elvis Presley’ for YOURSELF! He’ll be your companion - morning, noon and night time, too!” Any fan could mail in a coupon to receive the doll for only $3.98, which is what Patty must have done since the doll was sent C.O.D. which included the $3.98 purchase price, $.31 postage and $.30 COD fee, making Patty’s total $4.59 as indicated in blue ink on the mailing label. The Elvis doll is sought after by collectors and in this condition it would be the pinnacle of any collection. The doll measures approximately 18 inches (45.72 cm) in height and the box measures approximately 19 by 7 by 4 inches (48.26 x 17.78 x 10.16 cm). Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The doll presents in remarkable condition, with its complete outfit intact, including the blue suede shoes, belt and name tag. There are very small areas of discoloration on the fingers and nose—these could possibly be cleaned and removed. A gloriously preserved example. Near Mint condition. The box is intact, with all flaps. Shows signs of shipping use, as expected. Excellent to Mint condition.
