From the Estate of Eddie Fadal

During World War II servicemen wore identification bracelets engraved with their name, rank and serial number. The bracelet was intended as a means of identification in case they perished during service. As a sign of respect for their duty, many continued wearing the bracelets when they returned home. The tradition continued in subsequent wars although serviceman began giving their bracelets to wives and girlfriends as a sign of affection when they returned. This adornment became a popular trend in the 1970s when the accessory became fashionable and people wore ID bracelets to accentuate their style. Offered is an ID bracelet that was gifted by Elvis to his longtime friend and entourage member, Lamar Fike. The bracelet has a double-locking mechanism on the clasp linking a 14 karat yellow gold rope chain centered by a cylinder with the name “LAMAR” engraved on front and flanked by two diamonds, each measuring 3.2 mm and weighing 0.13 carat. “Cousin Larue” is engraved in script on the reverse. This was a term of endearment Elvis often used, along with Buddha, for Lamar. The bracelet’s construction and specifications exactly match those of other known examples gifted by Elvis to close family and entourage members. Lamar likely added the diamonds at a later date as he was fond of further embellishing his jewelry with diamonds. This gold and diamond identification bracelet comes with a letter from Eddie Fadal’s daughter and Lamar’s wife, Janice Fadal, in which she describes her relationship with Lamar and the circumstances in which Lamar sold the bracelet to her father. The bracelet, weighing 23 grams, measures 9 inches (22.86 cm) in length with the center gold cylinder measuring 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) in length. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The bracelet presents with mild to moderate wear. Near Mint condition.
