After Elvis’ fourth appearance on the Stage Show at the CBS Studio in New York City, Elvis traveled to Florida for a series of performances. The week tour in Florida, which included a stop in Georgia and Louisiana, netted over $22,000 with Elvis taking home just over six grand. He was described in papers as “the most talked-about new personality in the last 10 years of recorded music.” While Elvis flew from New York to Florida for those appearances, Red West and Gene Smith drove the rented equipment in a pink trailer that was built by Vernon behind the 1955 Cadillac. Elvis first played three shows on February 19 at the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa, Florida. Offered are three (3) period black-and-white snapshots of Elvis in his Cadillac, likely from that February 1956 in Tampa. Elvis would return to Tampa again that August, but for this return trip to Florida, Elvis embarked for Miami in his new Lincoln. His fame had reached staggering heights and his fan base was so rabid that right after his appearance in Miami he was forced to trade in his lavender Lincoln because it had been vandalized with love notes and phone numbers scrawled all over in lipstick. These photos emanate from a South Florida collection and capture a relaxed Elvis in the driver’s seat with fans outside the car. Some of the shorts-clad ladies can be seen in the reflection of the car door. These candid photos measure 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (8.89 x 8.89 cm) and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photos present with few defects in the image area, but do have some edge wear. Near Mint condition.
