1956 was an incredible year for Elvis and one in which his career was catapulted into the stratosphere with several television appearances, his Louisiana Hayride engagements, his first acting role in a feature film and an abundance of tour dates throughout the nation. Wherever he went, Elvis was adored and well received by fans. The Lone Star state of Texas was fortunate enough to receive this star for three separate tours in various cities around the state. Elvis introduced the state to his sweet rhythms in San Antonio on January 15, 1956 and serenaded fans in Galveston, Beaumont, Austin, Wichita Falls and Fort Worth over the following days. Elvis returned to Wichita Falls in April before performing the following days in Lubbock, El Paso, Amarillo, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Waco, Fort Worth and Houston. The Lone Star state could not get enough of this young star and his last tour in Texas began on October 11 in Dallas, where Elvis entered the Cotton Bowl in a convertible and sang on the 50-yard line to a crowd of over 26,000. Elvis performed four more shows in three additional cities of Waco, Houston and San Antonio on this short four-day Texas tour. Offered are four (4) original photographs of Elvis performing during this October tour of Texas. Each of the three black-and-white images (two with a more sepia toning) picture Elvis on stage with guitar in hand. Scotty Moore is clearly visible in one and DJ Fontana in two. Each photo has the printed date “Nov 56” in the margin (likely the date of printing) with two of the photos having larger bottom borders than the other one. Three treasured tokens from an important moment in Elvis’ rise to fame. Each photo measures 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches (8.89 x 6.35 cm) and the group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photographs exhibit defects that in no way impact the image: one has a small tear and missing upper right corner, another has a small tear in the bottom margin and the last has several small tears in the margins and a crease in the lower right corner. All are discolored from age and contain surface soiling and minor surface creasing. Overall good condition.
