Towards the end of 1956, Elvis toured Ohio and on November 22-24 he performed three shows at the Sports Arena in Toledo and two at the Hobart Arena in Troy. This tour began just days after “Love Me Tender” shipped and the film of the same name opened nationwide. It was a busy year for Elvis and by this date he had released seven EPs, one double EP, two albums and 11 singles. His star was shooting ever higher and the fans could not get enough. Offered are three (3) black-and-white snapshots, one with “Running Wild” handwritten in dark blue ink along the bottom white edge. Each early photo with white borders has the printed mark of “Dec 56” in the white margin identifying this as the printing date of the images. One of the smaller images has a handwritten pencil notation identifying Elvis Presley on the reverse. In addition to Elvis, his friend Nick Adams, band member Bill Black, and his cousin Gene Smith can be identified in the photos. Given the December 56 Kodak processing date on the edge of the snapshots, it can be determined that these snapshots had to be taken at a show prior to that, and since Nick Adams is known to have been with Elvis on Nov. 20, it is likely that Nick joined the brief Ohio/Kentucky tour that November. The images clearly depict Elvis backstage at an event facility and based on his outfit, it can be assumed that the date of the photos is likely the Toledo show on November 22 since known identified images of that show capture Elvis in the same outfit that he is wearing in the offered images. Elvis performed two shows that day to crowds well exceeding 10,000 and these photos were likely snapped backstage between shows. These incredible images capture the young star behind the scenes of the frenzy he creates with the audience of young fans screaming with exhilaration at witnessing his crooning sounds and swiveling hips. Two of these amazing black-and-white photos measure 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (8.89 x 8.89 cm), with the additional one measuring 3 1/2 by 5 inches (8.89 x 12.7 cm). The trio of early photographs, capturing the energy and enthusiasm of this rising talent, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photographs are in excellent condition overall with typical creasing, discoloration and edge wear indicative of photos with age.
