In October 1970, Elvis ordered the first 12 custom “TCB” necklaces from Sol Schwartz, later of Schwartz & Ableser Fine Diamonds and Jewelry in Beverly Hills. These trademark necklaces became a favorite gift for close friends and associates and as such he would often order them in relatively large numbers; for instance, he ordered 10 more the very next day after ordering the first 12. Elvis continued to have Schwartz & Ableser make TCB necklaces over the years and fix any that were in need of repair. The offered TCB necklace was one that was brought to Schwartz & Ableser for repair in 1973 and comes with an original receipt numbered 08713 and dated 6/2/77. The handwritten notation on this invoice indicates “Elvis TCB charm purchased by Elvis in ’73 and returned to us for repair.” The customer name is listed as Lee Grossman and the $100.23 total cost is indicated as being paid by a red “paid” stamp near Lee’s signature. Lee was fortunate to acquire the pendant directly from Schwartz & Ableser when, four years after the repair, it had not been collected. The 14-karat, yellow gold TCB pendant features a delicate diagonal textured design on the lightning bolt and hangs from a rope chain. The pendant is stamped “14k” on the reverse and the chain has no clasp as it is designed to slip over the head. The necklace, weighing 19.5 grams, is housed in a black velvet Schwartz & Ableser Beverly Hills box. The pendant measures 1 3/4 inches (4.45 cm), the chain measures 24 inches (60.96 cm), and the receipt measures 6 7/8 by 4 1/8 inches (17.46 x 10.47 cm). In this instance, Lee Grossman took care of business by acquiring this iconic piece of the King’s treasure. The necklace is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The receipt is in excellent condition with small area of paper loss in upper left corner and the necklace is in excellent condition.
