Along with his historic “Aloha in Hawaii” concert, Elvis’ performances at Madison Square Garden in New York City in June of 1972 are some of the most significant considering the importance of the venue, the success of the concerts and it being his first live performance in New York since the 1950s. Meant to be a three-day series, a fourth day was added when his first three shows sold out immediately, a first in Madison Square Garden history, which prompted The New York Times to describe the Elvis phenomenon as “Like a Prince from Another Planet.” Elvis performed two shows on June 10, 1972 and RCA recorded both in preparation to release an album of the live show which would be titled Elvis: As Recorded at Madison Square Garden. RCA released the album that same month and it achieved gold status just two months later in August 1972. Offered is a red ticket stub from the 8:30 p.m. performance for Loge 4C seat B2 at a cost of $10.00. The ticket stub, measuring 2 1/4 by 1 3/4 inches (5.72 x 4.45 cm), comes with a tour letter, measuring 14 by 8 1/2 inches (35.56 x 21.59 cm), that is titled “NEW ALBUM/AS RECORDED LIVE SATURDAY EVENING, JUNE 10, AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.” The letter lets fans know the album has been released, further mentions Elvis On Tour coming that fall and, on the reverse, promotes Elvis’ August 4 - September 4, 1972, Summer Festival at the Las Vegas Hilton/International Hotel. Tom Diskin has signed the letter, and also added a handwritten postscript that reads “We do not have a situation for the girls as we advised you on the phone but send best wishes.” It is unclear for whom the note was intended. This collection also includes a 1972 Tour Photo Album measuring 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm); a 1972 promotional photo, measuring 10 by 8 inches (25.4 x 20.32 cm), the reverse of which promotes the 1972 RCA release Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden; a 1972 promotional photo measuring 14 by 11 inches (35.56 x 27.94 cm); and a 1971-72 concert poster featuring Elvis in a white jumpsuit and red belt against a blue background that measures 37 1/2 by 22 3/4 inches (95.25 x 57.78 cm). The group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ticket presents with few defects. Near Mint condition. The remainder of the items exhibit scuffing, folds and moderate wear. Excellent condition overall.
