From the Trude Forsher Collection

The Elvis LP was his second studio album, with eleven of the twelve tracks recorded at Radio Recorders Hollywood Studio in September 1956 and released by RCA Victor just a month later. It reached number 1 on the Billboard charts, where it spent four weeks, and it was certified gold by RIAA in 1960 and platinum in 2011. The tracks on the record that were released as singles included “Love Me,” “When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold,” “Paralyzed,” and “Old Shep.” Offered is a reel to reel tape created as a commercial to promote the album with radio stations--this offered version is for KCBH Radio in Beverly Hills, California. The reel to reel begins with an announcer extolling the surprising and widespread fame of Elvis Presley and imploring listeners to give him just 15 minutes to listen to a sample of the record. "15 mInutes of anything is not gonna hurt you" our host claims as Elvis launches into the first song. The tape contains the entire first side of the album, in order: "Rip It Up," "Love Me," "When My Blue Turns to Gold Again," "Long Tall Sally," "First In Line" and "Paralyzed."  The announcer then comes back for a final, exasperated accounting of the new star's success. The reel measures 7 inches (17.78 cm) in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The reel presents in playable condition. Excellent condition overall.
