The offered RIAA Platinum Sales Award was “Presented to Bud Collins to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 1,000,000 Copies of the RCA Records Album, Cassette and CD ‘Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden.’” Mr. Collins was most likely an RCA executive or a distributor. The RIAA certified the album Platinum on May 20, 1988, and the award emanates from that period. This album was a live recording of Elvis’ concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, June 10, 1972, and was released just a week after the performance, Elvis’ first in NYC since the 1950s. The album was certified gold in August of 1972. The offered award features a CD with platinum-colored LP and cassette, to represent all the formats in the marketplace in the late 1980s. The framed award measures approximately 21 by 17 by 1 inches (53.34 x 43.18 x 2.54 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The award, framed with Plexiglas front, is in excellent condition overall.
