Elvis: A Legendary Performer (Volume 1) was released by RCA in January 1974. The compilation album consists of 12 songs and two recordings from his television appearances to make the 14 tracks. The first track is Elvis’ early recording of “That’s All Right” from 1954 and his time at Sun Records, eight more tunes from the 1950s and five from the ‘60s. The compilation included previously unreleased material and each subsequent volume in the series included more previously unreleased songs, with Volume 3, released in 1978 after Elvis' death, consisting almost entirely of previously unreleased material. Offered is the framed award for Elvis: A Legendary Performer issued by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) which displays a plaque, next to a small image of the album cover and mounted beneath the gold record, that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the RCA RECORDS long-playing record album ‘ELVIS: A LEGENDARY PERFORMER VOLUME 1’,” all set against a white linen matte background. The reverse bears the framing label from New York Frame & Picture Co. on 29 John Street in New York. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on January 8, 1975. The framed award measures 21 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches (54.61 x 44.45 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
