“Suspicious Minds” was a song written by Mark James but made famous by Elvis’ 1969 rendition, which was released as a single by RCA with “You’ll Think of Me” on side B on August 26, 1969. The single release was recorded in a manner mimicking Elvis’ on-stage performance to replicate the live sound. Elvis first performed the song in Las Vegas on July 31, 1969 and RCA released the 45 single just weeks after. The style was successful and the single, Elvis’ last ever, sold well over a million copies and was ranked by Rolling Stone magazine number 91 in their 500 greatest songs of all time. Now is your chance to own Colonel Parker’s own copy of the RIAA gold record award for one of Elvis’ greatest hit songs, “Suspicious Minds” (similar to the one on display at Graceland). The award emanates directly from the collection of Colonel Parker and is being sold to benefit the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation. The RIAA Gold record award has a plaque, mounted beneath a gold single with orange label, that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of the RCA RECORDS pop single record ‘SUSPICIOUS MINDS,’” all set against a white linen matte background and in a wooden frame measuring 17 1/4 by 13 1/8 by 5/8 inches (43.81 x 33.33 x 1.58 cm). This chart topper became one of Elvis’ most beloved songs. The award, emanating directly from the Colonel’s personal collection, is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

100% of the hammer price will be donated to the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding any potential deduction for this purchase.

The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation

The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation (EPCF), a 501(c)3 organization, was formed by Graceland/Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. in 1984 to continue Elvis’ own tradition of generosity and community service, and to honor his memory. All of the EPCF’s funds are used for charitable donations — nothing is deducted for staffing or other operating costs. The foundation has assisted numerous charities over the years and has a longstanding relationship with the College of Communications and Fine Arts at the University of Memphis where the Elvis Presley Endowed Scholarship Fund was created. Also, dear to Elvis’ heart, the foundation has supported outstanding Memphis-based charitable organizations, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the National Civil Rights Museum. The foundation receives a portion of its overall income from Graceland/Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.  A meaningful amount of the EPCF’s funding also comes from donations made by Elvis fan clubs and individual Elvis fans and admirers from around the world.

The award presents with minor wear to the wooden frame and tape on the back of the frame. Excellent to Mint condition.
