On Sunday, February 20, 1955 Elvis, Scotty and Bill begin a Jamboree Attractions tour at Robinson Auditorium in Little Rock, Arkansas right on the heels of a performance at the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport the day before. This show in Little Rock is billed as “WSM Grand Ole Opry” and also features The Carter Sisters, with the tickets for the performance advertising “The Elvis Presley Show.” Offered is a pair of black-and-white photos from backstage at the Little Rock show as described in the accompanying letter from Sue Johnson, the woman pictured with Elvis in one of the images, dated November 19, 2010:

I am from Bald Knob, AR. These pictures were made in 1955, backstage at Elvis show in Little Rock, AR. An older male friend who was from Bald Knob moved to Little Rock and went to work for the Arkansas Gazette, one of the two state papers. He got the job of interviewing Elvis at his next show in Little Rock. He at once thought of me. I was the wildest Elvis fan anyone had ever seen. He asked me to stay backstage all night with Elvis and then write my own story (with pictures) for the state paper. Elvis got to know me, and he was always the nicest person I had ever met.

Based on the letter from Ms. Johnson, the photos were most likely take by a press photographer from the newspaper. Mistakenly written on the reverse of one of the photos is “Louis. Hayride,” but based on records, the Little Rock shows in February 1955 were actually part of the WSM Grand Ole Opry tour that included Elvis for eight shows. Both of these charming photos depicting a dashing Elvis measure 8 by 10 inches (20.32 x 25.4 cm). Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photos present with mild age-related toning but few other defects of note. Near Mint condition.
