Elvis and the Colonel recognized the importance of keeping in touch with family, friends, and fans at the holidays and also used this efficient tool to promote the star and keep him fresh on the minds of fans. Typically Christmas and Easter greetings were standard fare for serving this purpose, however in February 1963 as Elvis was filming Fun In Acapulco, Valentine’s greetings were sent from Elvis’ office in Memphis. Offered is a pristine example of this rare 1963 Valentine letter on red paper that reads “From the Heart of E.P.! Be My Valentine for ‘63’ Yours Truly, Elvis Presley.” The valentine message comes with a letter from Graceland secretary Becky Yancey recalling, “This original Valentine was shipped from Graceland in February of 1963...These valentines were only used a short period of time that year and are very rare.” Becky Yancey was Elvis’ private secretary at Graceland for almost 13 years. The original mailing envelope, dated February 12, 1963, with return address from Elvis Presley at 3764 Highway 51, is addressed to “Janet McCoy” of Chester, West Virginia, and is also included. It would appear by the smeared lipstick on the envelope’s reverse that it was received with heated enthusiasm. The letter measures 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The Valentine letter exhibits no defects. Near Mint condition.
