The television special entitled Elvis that aired on NBC on December 3, 1968 is widely known as the “’68 Comeback Special,” as it was the launch of the next successful chapter in Elvis’ career. The television special was sponsored by Singer Corporation (best known for sewing machines) in hopes of revitalizing its brand. Not only was the program wildly successful, it was the top-rated television special of the year. While ephemera from this television special featuring the Singer name is not terribly common, one of the tougher promotional pieces to obtain is the offered yellow ribbon, which mimics the design for several of the promotions including the poster and card. On it, red dots form “Singer presents” and “Elvis” in an emulation of his name in lights, with the date and times all set against the light yellow silhouette of a guitar. While the television special was heavily promoted with full-page ads in the New York Times and Variety, this ribbon represents one of the rarer promotional pieces from this extraordinary event that catapulted Elvis into a successful second half of his musical career. The ribbon measures 6 by 2 1/2 inches (15.24 x 6.35 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ribbon has only the most minor wear to the edges. Near Mint condition.
