This compelling group of production items emanates from the family of an employee of the RCA Indianapolis Pressing Plant. The Indianapolis record manufacturing plant opened on August 5, 1939 and was the largest of the strategically located RCA plants in the United States, enabling it to deliver to distributors overnight until the plant ceased production of vinyl records in 1987. Offered is a collection of interesting 1970s exemplars from this plant along with additional promotional pieces from the same decade that includes:

  • three (3) RCA promotional record store posters, each measuring 22 by 22 inches (55.88 x 55.88 cm), that advertise the Elvis albums Elvis in Concert, Welcome to My World and Moody Blue
  • an RCA/CAMDEN record store counter card promoting the 1970s re-release of Elvis’ Christmas Album, measuring 12 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches (31.77 x 31.75 cm);
  • two (2) unusual “golden” vinyl 45s, measuring 7 inches (17.78 cm) in diameter, plucked prior to labeling at the pressing plant, which include the singles “Love Me”/“I Want You, I Need You, I Love You” and “Surrender”/“It’s Now or Never”;
  • a 45, measuring 7 inches (17.78 cm) in diameter, of “Always on My Mind”/”Separate Ways” on which one side of the label is misprinted and cut off, together with its original picture sleeve;
  • five (5) unused LP center labels, each measuring 4 inches (10.16 cm) in diameter, which consist of three (3) for the 1977 album Elvis in Concert sides B, C and D, and two (2) for “Side A” and “Side B” of the 1977 album Moody Blue; and
  • three (3) unused picture disc photos for Elvis: A Legendary Performer Volume 3—two for side B and one for side A—that would have been encased in the clear vinyl to create the picture disc effect, each measuring 11 inches (27.94 cm) in diameter.

This noteworthy collection emanating from the original RCA pressing plant is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The posters show signs of storage wear, with edge distresses and wrinkling. The counter card has cover wear with one small area of chipping and paper loss in the upper right. The “golden” 45s are unsullied and present in perfect condition, while the misprinted 45 shows signs of use. The LP labels and picture discs are in unused, clean condition. Overall Near Mint with some pieces lesser.
