From the Trude Forsher Collection

As the west coast secretary for Elvis Presley and Colonel Tom Parker, Trude Forsher was an integral part of the Elvis machine in Hollywood during her tenure between 1956 and 1961. Much of Elvis’ time was spent on the West Coast as he filmed 31 motion pictures for the movie studios in Hollywood during the ’50s and ’60s. His film catalog includes 12 pictures for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), 9 pictures for Paramount, 4 pictures for United Artists, 3 pictures for 20th Century Fox and 1 picture each for Allied Artists, National General and Universal. Offered is a collection of early stationery and lot passes from Trude’s own personal archive that includes:

  • Trude Forsher’s 1957 MGM Studio Lot ID Card which reads in part, “Business Pass / Issued to Trude Forsher / Secretary to Col. Parker,” and measures 2 1/4 by 3 1/2 inches (5.72 x 8.89 cm);
  • Trude Forsher’s 1960 Paramount Pictures ID Card issued to, and signed by, Trude Forsher, measuring 2 1/4 by 3 1/2 inches (5.72 x 8.89 cm);
  • Twelve (12) 20th Century Fox memo sheets, each measuring 7 1/4 by 8 1/2 inches (18.42 x 21.59 cm);
  • 20th Century Fox Television envelope, measuring 4 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches (11.43 x 24.13 cm);
  • 20th Century Fox Television mailing label booklet with eight labels, measuring 2 by 5 1/2 inches (5.08 x 13.97 cm);
  • Paramount Pictures letterhead, measuring 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm);
  • Three (3) Paramount Pictures envelopes, each measuring 4 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches (11.43 x 24.13 cm). One envelope has notation in pencil that reads “These were in Miss Scott’s room and she has gone.” This most likely references Elvis’ co-star in the 1957 Paramount film Loving You—who knows what she left in her room… One envelope has a notation in pencil that reads “Elvis Presley Office (Trudy Forsher)”;
  • Paramount Pictures receipt, filled out to “Trude Forsher” on March 12, 1958, which coincides with the filming of King Creole and measures 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches (13.97 x 21.59 cm); and
  • Five (5) Hal Wallis Productions “Inter-Office Communication” sheets, each measuring 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches (13.97 x 21.59 cm).

Keeping up with Elvis’ hectic movie schedule and the associated studios was certainly a Herculean task, but one in which Trude was successful in those preliminary years. This early studio ephemera assemblage is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

While some pieces have moderate toning, most are in clean, fresh condition. Excellent condition overall.
