From the Trude Forsher Collection

Elvis and the Colonel recognized the importance of keeping in touch with family, friends, and fans during the holidays and an efficient way to do so was by sending greeting cards. They could serve double duty as a thoughtful touch that also kept Elvis forefront in people’s minds at holiday time. Offered is a bountiful collection from Trude Forsher’s own personal archive that includes:

  • 1956 Christmas Card (“Dig That Crazy Swiss Bell Ringer!”), measuring 5 by 7 inches (12.70 x 17.78 cm);
  • 1957 Christmas Card (postmarked December 21, 1957, addressed to Trudy Forsher), measuring 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches (21.59 x13.97 cm);
  • 1959 Christmas Postcard (“Holiday Greetings to You All from Elvis and the Colonel” with Elvis in his Army uniform), measuring 3 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches (8.89 x 13.97 cm);
  • 1961 Christmas Postcard (Elvis in lei, postmarked December 8, 1961, and addressed to Trude Forsher), measuring 5 1/2 by 3 1/4 inches (13.34 x 8.26 cm);
  • 1963 Christmas Card (foldout card with views of Graceland, with mailing envelope), measuring 5 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches (13.34 x 20.96 cm);
  • 1965 Christmas Card (gold foil card from “Elvis Presley and Family”), measuring 5 1/2 by 7 inches (13.97 x 17.78 cm);
  • 1965 Christmas Postcard (“Seasons Greetings Elvis and the Colonel”), measuring 8 1/8 by 5 1/8 inches (20.64 x 13.02 cm);
  • 1967 Christmas Postcard (“Seasons Greetings - Elvis and the Colonel 1967,” stamped on the reverse “Give Elvis for Christmas” and postmarked December 11, 1967, to James Forsher), measuring 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (13.97 x 8.89 cm);
  • 1969 Christmas Postcard (Colonel in Santa suit with Elvis), measuring 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (13.97 x 8.89 cm);
  • 1972 Christmas Postcard (Colonel in Santa suit and Elvis in red jumpsuit, postmarked December 3, 1972, and addressed to Mrs. Trude Forsher & Family), measuring 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (13.97 x 8.89 cm);
  • 1975 Christmas Postcard (Colonel in Santa suit and Elvis in white jumpsuit, postmarked November 23, 1975, and addressed to Mrs. Trude Forsher), measuring 7 by 4 7/8 inches (17.78 x 12.38 cm);
  • 1960s era Christmas Card (gold foil with praying hands from “Elvis and the Colonel”), measuring 7 by 5 1/2 inches (17.78 x 13.97 cm);
  • Easter Greeting Card (year unknown), signed “Elvis and the Colonel” (secretarial), measuring 5 7/8 by 3 3/4 inches (14.92 x 9.53 cm);
  • 1967 Easter Postcards (2) (“Easter Greeting Elvis Presley 1967,” one postmarked March 13, 1967, to Mrs. Trude Forsher, one postmarked March 9, 1967, to Mr. Bruno Forsher), measuring 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (13.97 x 8.89 cm);
  • 1969 Easter Postcard (“Easter Greeting Elvis Presley 1969,” postmarked March 25, 1969, addressed to Mrs. Trude Forsher), measuring 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches (13.97 x 8.89 cm);
  • 1950s Letter from Tom Diskin to Trude Forsher with instructions for distributing “Five hundred of the Colonel’s Christmas cards,” measuring 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches (13.97 x 21.59 cm);
  • 1967 Elvis Radio Christmas Special brochure, measuring 7 1/2 by 4 inches (19.05 x 10.16 cm), with sales sheet, measuring 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm), and an original mailing envelope (postmarked November 1967 and addressed to Mrs. Trude Forsher), measuring 4 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches (11.43 x 24.13 cm).

This comprehensive collection of the personal holiday cards and ephemera from Elvis and the Colonel, with many to Trude herself, is a treasure trove of holiday cheer and good will and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.



Most cards show minor wear, with a few having tape stains from scrapbook storage. Excellent to Mint overall, some lesser.
