Elvis’ performances at Madison Square Garden in New York City in June of 1972 marked one of his most significant appearances, considering the importance of the venue, the success of the concerts and it being his first live performance in New York since the 1950s. Meant to be a three-day series, a fourth day was added when his first three shows sold out immediately, a first in Madison Square Garden history. Each show was attended by over 20,000 fans, making it more than 80,000 fans over the course of the weekend who enjoyed a set-list consisting of his early hits, fan favorites from his movies, new hits and other songs that included “American Trilogy,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “That’s All Right,” “Suspicious Minds,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and many more. Elvis performed two shows on June 10, 1972 and RCA recorded both in preparation to release an album of the live show which would be titled Elvis: As Recorded at Madison Square Garden. RCA released the album that same month and it achieved gold status just two months later in August 1972. Offered is a ticket from this June 10 show and a collection of related concert ephemera from 1972 that includes:
