Two of the milestones for the 1974 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo were the Elvis Presley concerts, his last two shows performed at the Astrodome, which drew record numbers. The first show set a record for attendance only to have the second break it later that day, with a total crowd exceeding 88,000. Elvis rode through the arena in a red Ford Bronco, an appropriately named vehicle for a livestock show, before taking the stage. A less than flattering article appeared in the Houston Chronicle the following day on March 4th written by Jeff Millar, who seemed more captivated by a female fan who was eager to see the superstar than the performance itself. He began his article, “Occupying the standing room only space next to me at the rodeo Sunday afternoon was one of those 33-year-old dumplin’ darlin’s (her husband’s gotta love her ’cause there’s a lotta girl to love) who was keeping a vigil for Elvis Presley. She knew he was going to emerge from somewhere in the center field area of the Astrodome, and the lady was determined that not a single moment of Elvis on public exhibition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was going to escape her binoculars. ‘He’s going to come out back yonder,’ she said, the binocs so screwed into her eyes that those apple cheeks were all but bleeding.” No doubt many fans were as enthusiastic as this rosy-cheeked admirer based on the attendance for his shows that day. Offered are four consecutively numbered tickets for the show that day, located at box L, Aisle 116, seats 1, 2, 3, and 4. Four friends or family together with great seats to view this historic performance. Two tickets stub measure 2 by 1 3/8 inches (5.08 x 3.49 cm) and two measure 2 1/2 by 1 3/8 inches (6.35 x 3.49 cm) with the grouping accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The ticket stubs are in Excellent condition overall.
