In June 1977, Elvis began his 5th tour of that year, which would also turn out to be his last. A couple of the shows on this tour are filmed for the upcoming CBS television special “Elvis in Concert.” The reviews of this tour in local papers touted, “Fans shrieked, swoon as Elvis croons his tunes,” and “Only a lout with no appreciation whatsoever for modern popular music could have escaped Presley’s spell.” His performance on Saturday June 25, 1977 in the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio was energetic and the Cincinnati Inquirer reported the next day that “It was not a concert. It was a rite” and then continued to describe that “the audience also knew why he received the title ‘The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.’ He sang ‘C.C. Rider’ and the next song, ‘I Got a Woman’, with looseness and light-hearted spirit that was missing in his 1976 show at Riverfront Coliseum.” The article concluded by stating that Elvis had proved to his loyal fans that he was capable of recapturing his original sound. And while the performance that night was electrifying, Elvis returned to the hotel to find the air conditioning in his room anything but, prompting him and his entire entourage to set off on foot to find new accommodations.

Offered is a collection of thirty-six (36) 35mm color negatives and thirty-one (31) color photos (contained in a red cover, spiral photo album) of this June 25th concert. The negatives are on nine (9) strips that each measure 1 1/2 by 6 inches (3.81 x 15.24 cm) and each photo, with a printed dated of Jun 1977 on the reverse, measures 3 1/2 by 5 inches (8.89 x 12.7 cm). Elvis is depicted in the images wearing his Aztec or Mexican Sundial jumpsuit. This historic concert grouping comes with a Ticketron ticket stub, measuring 2 by 4 inches (5.08 x 10.16 cm), from that June 25 8:30 p.m. concert for Section 129, Row V, Seat 3 and a 1977 pocket picture calendar. This captivating collection from that single moment in time is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The photos are in excellent condition overall with typical discoloration from age.
